Phil is a very experienced director, writer and producer.
TV: Phil's directed over 100 episodes of primetime US shows - including MODERN FAMILY, LAST MAN ON EARTH, BROOKLYN 99, GOOD GIRLS, LIFE IN PIECES, THE MIDDLE, FRESH OFF THE BOAT, BLACK-ISH, RAISING HOPE, BREAKING IN, MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE and THE GRINDER. He's also directed four pilots, including ENLISTED and UNCLE BUCK. Most recently, Phil was EP / Director on both seasons of Hulu’s SINGLE DRUNK FEMALE (100% on Rotten Tomatoes!) - and Producer-Director on NBC’s GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY.
Film: Phil has directed four feature films - ALL ABOUT STEVE, CHALET GIRL, NO SLEEP ‘TIL CHRISTMAS and GOOD BURGER 2.
Phil was born in New Jersey, but moved to the UK when he was six. After getting a First in Film, English and Philosophy at Newcastle University, Phil began his career in London producing and directing the cult British morning show THE BIG BREAKFAST. He went on to direct all of C4’s R-rated sketch show SPOONS - as well as commercials (SONY PLAYSTATION), music videos (THE BEES) and a series of award-winning short films. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the feature film OPAL DREAM.
He moved to LA in 2006, and currently lives in Santa Monica with his wife and three loud kids.
